
Point Place is one of Toledo's most tight-knit communities. The area used to be a popular tourist spot in Washington Township that consisted mostly of farm land and summer cottages. In 1937, it was annexed into the city of Toledo. Point Place is a peninsula that got its name from being the point where the Ottawa River and the Maumee River flow into Maumee Bay.
Over the years, Point Place has grown into a wonderful waterside community with marinas and sailing clubs. The location is a dream for boaters as you can easily access Lake Erie and other nearby peninsulas and islands, such as Put-in-Bay, Kelleys Island, and Catawba Island. The community has 2 school districts with the Shoreland side being Washington Local School District and the remainder being Toledo Public Schools with Woodward as the high school.
